I do prefer to shoot balls in the sidepocket, but chose to take the 7 ball in the corner instead.
Missing this shape will result in either a difficult 7 ball or you will have to kiss off the 8 ball and gain a shot at it!

The 7 ball is open to the corner pocket or the side pocket, both require accurate speed off of the 6 ball.
